Weekend Links – An Empty Palace, Pink Slips, & Highlight Heaven

Whether you’re watching Michigan State and Purdue fight to the death or Wisconsin shred Michigan’s defense at will (Clay was NOT in the end zone, awful call), here’s your weekend links to keep you busy in dull football moments (like official reviews).

  • Detroit Bad Boys has an interesting take on why the Palace isn’t selling out (or really coming close) during Pistons games this season. A lot of great points made in that article.
  • If you haven’t heard already (and let’s face it, you have), LeBron James has decided to change his number from 23 to 6 after this season. It’s a nice gesture, but what took him so long?
Michael Jordan
  • Once again, soccer hooliganism rears its ugly head. I’m pretty sure that headline, roughly translated, says “I’m just the team manager.” Make sure to check out the size of the rocks in the video too.
Rob’s Highlights of the Day
I wasn’t able to find a lot of posts that I liked today, so we’ll go heavy on the highlights.

#1. My least favorite player ever gets dunked on, an arena goes completely insane, and vintage Marv Albert on the call. Sounds like a winner. [via Ball Don’t Lie]

#2. Some nice ball movement by the Nets on the fast break against Orlando. Rafer Alston finished with a triple double in the 88-72 loss.

#3. It’s not exactly the standard we’re used to in Detroit, but Rick Nash’s nifty shootout move sealed the deal for the Blue Jackets against the Anaheim Ducks. [via Deadspin]
