Today, on Senior Day on the campus of La Salle University, the Explorers were looking for their 20th win of the season. But before tip-off, the Explorers recognized Seniors Earl Pettis and Matt Sheehan for their careers at La Salle. Sheehan who usually doesn’t get to start was in the starting lineup and played two minutes in the game.
Earl Pettis who always starts had 16 points and the Explorers defeated the St. Bonaventure Bonnies 71-61. The leading scorer for the Explorers was So. G Tyreek Duren. Duren had 21 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists. Finally, the Explorers got contributions from their two big men, Jerrell Wright and Devon White. The two big men combined for 20 points and 9 rebounds.
For the Bonnies, Sr. F Andrew Nicholson was kept under wraps in this game compared to his last four games where he was averaging 29.8 points per game. Nicholson finished the game with 19 points and 8 rebounds. St. Bonaventure finishes the regular season (17-11, 10-6 A-10).
La Salle finishes the regular season (20-11, 9-7 A-10) and the seventh seed in the Atlantic 10 conference tournament. The Explorers have a date with the tenth seed Richmond Spiders on Tuesday at 7:00 pm at Tom Gola Arena in the first round of the Atlantic 10 conference tournament.
