In the first round of the NCAA Division One Football Championship, the Villanova Wildcats took on the Stony Brook Seawolves. From the jump, it was all Stony Brook as they took a 14-0 lead going into the half. The Seawolves two touchdowns in the first half came from senior running back Miguel Maysonet who had 25 carries on 160 rushing yards.
That would be the only two touchdowns that the Seawolves needed as they added a field goal in the third and fourth quarter. Villanova, on the other hand; would get their only touchdown in the fourth quarter. Freshman quarterback John Robertson would get a 21 yard rushing touchdown to make the score 10-20 as Nova would fall by that score. Robertson would finish the day, 15 of 31 with 135 passing yards, zero touchdowns, and two interceptions.
He would also be Villanova’s leading rusher on the day as he had 15 carries for 85 rushing yards, and one touchdown.
The Wildcats finish the season 8-4 and 6-2 in CAA conference play and are eliminated from NCAA Division I Football Championship play.
