Weeks, pen had McClung’s back in 6-3 win

Newest Brewer Ray Durham got to make his first play in a Brewers’ uni Monday night…but as only a pinch-hitter.
Despite splits to the contrary, skipper Ned Yost started Rickie Weeks at second base…and Weeks delivered, going 2-for-5, scoring twice and driving in three runs to help pace the Crew to their fourth straight road win.
Brewers’ starter Seth McClung got behind early, surrendering a pair of runs in the bottom of the first, before settling down to finish five innings and only allowing the two earned runs. The Crew’s 3-run fifth gave the Brewers a 3-2 lead before going to the pen in the bottom of the sixth. Guillermo Mota, Eric Gagne, and David Riske each pitched a scoreless inning in the 6th, 7th, and 8th innings, respectively, before Salomon Torres gave up the tying run in the 9th.
But after a Bill Hall insurance home run, Yost decided to stick with Torres, even having him bat in the 10th inning…the Brewers wound up with an additional two insurance runs in the inning, and Torres settled down to earn the win to improve to 5-2 on the year.
The win puts Milwaukee just two back of the first-place Cubs in the NL Central.
