Welcome Finnie, Goodbye Allison

For those that follow LOHD, you know that I am on vacation at Edisto Beach thus the light blogging this week.  I have been tweeting a good bit ( @LOHDgamecocks ) since it is SEC Media days so follow us there.  I have enjoyed sitting on the beach or at the golf course following the ongoings at SEC Media days and putting some tweets out there.  Oh back to the reason for this post…

This week the USC Fighting Gamecocks added to their 2011 recruiting class with the addition of DB Thomas Finnie (Miami, Fla./Central) who pulled the trigger on a commitment to the Gamecocks during his unofficial visit recently.  This seems like a real good pick-up for USC as he is speedy with good hands.

The 5-foot-10, 160-pound Finnie runs a 4.4 40-yard dash. Last season, Finnie had four interceptions at cornerback. He played safety as a sophomore and had two picks.  Welcome to DB U.

In other news, seems the Gamecocks have lost their second offensive linemen in the last week.  This time second stringer Nick Allison quit the team and headed home to Asheville, NC due to a girl issue.  Coach Spurrier confirmed what we tweeted yesterday that he left the team.  Spurrier said the reason that he quit was due to a girlfriend issue.  This has stupid and regrets written all over it.  Not sure if the door is open for him to return if this is like a”home sick” issue but not sure really he deserves to come back after leaving the team for a reason like this.

Allison, a redshirt freshman, played offensive guard and was listed as the second team guard behind Garrett Chisolm going into preseason practice.

I am still a wee bit concerned with the OL heading into the fall camp.  I hope they come together and wow me.
