Being excited is an understatement in regards to the Philadelphia 76ers fans’ reaction to hearing that the two-time NBA champion in Andrew Bynum will be the new face of the franchise.

The 24-year old has yet to reach his prime in the NBA, and is ecstatic to get his chance to be ‘the guy’ of his team after taking a back seat to the five-time world champion, Kobe Bryant, for the first seven years of his career.

With the ability of Sixers head coach, Doug Collins to get the best out of his players, and Bynum’s superstar-caliber talent, it is no question that this new Sixers team can compete with the best teams in the NBA.

“The sky is the limit,” Bynum said during a press conference the Sixers held earlier today to welcome Bynum and his new teammate Jason Richardson to the organization.

Bynum grew up in Plainsboro, NJ, making him an east coast guy, and when asked about his contract situation and free agency, he responded with assuring words that many Sixers fans would be glad to hear.

“I’m really looking forward to making this my home…I’m really leaning towards being able to stay here,” Bynum said.

If he can’t play at home, why not play somewhere that’s so close it feels like home? Exactly, there’s no reason why not.

The Sixers organization is happy, the fans are happy, and Bynum seems happy, so what would make this new addition to the team, other than a championship, that much better?

Signing arguably the best center in today’s NBA to a long-term contract will certainly do that.
