Last season, the Bucs missed the playoffs on a tiebreaker with a 10-6 record. This season, the Bucs could finish with a 7-9 record, and may still lose out on a tiebreaker!
Thats because this years NFC wild card contest is a very very weak one with the injury situations that have hit the NFC. With the Bears losing Jay Cutler, and the Lions losing the services of Suh for two games, and on a slide anyway, there is really no one in the NFC that is out of the wild card contest.
No, Im not saying the Bucs are still alive for the playoffs, even though mathamatically they are still alive, we all know they are dead in 2011. But what a waste to have this kind of a year, they could have easilly made the playoffs this year.
Dallas is controlling the NFC east and the Giants are losing to Green Bay, and will fall to 6-6.
In the NFC South, Atlanta lost to Houston, and is now 7-5. The Bears have fallen to 7-5, and the LIons will probably lose to the Saints tonight and fall to 7-5.
The NFC West is irrelevant. So the Bucs really picked the wrong time to fall apart, they had the perfect chance to make the playoffs this year. Tampa Bay has not made the playoffs since 2007, and the Bucs have not won a playoff game since they won the Super Bowl in 2002.
