Grant Hill is hungry for a ring. Starving for one. Desperate for one.
He has also made plenty of money. He's a respected guy who can still play 20+ minutes of good basketball in every game. He just finished a season with the Phoenix Suns in which he played 70 games, at 31.8 minutes per, and averaged 13.1 ppg. He'll be 36, but he was productive and pretty healthy last year. And he'll be asked to play reserve minutes… not starter minutes.
Grant Hill has a player option for this year at $1.9 million… but he's made plenty of money already. Don't you think he'd be willing to take the veteran minimum to play here? Phoenix is in a tough spot…. and they still have to fight their way through the West.
Personally… I'd love to have him on this team. He can still play quality minutes and… most importantly… he's one of the smartest players on the floor. He can anchor a second unit and provide a spark (and some rebounding; He averaged 5 a game last year). He can help younger guys progress and be yet another positive, veteran influence on guys like Rajon Rondo, Gabe Pruitt and Kendrick Perkins.
The only downside for him: He'd have to change his number.
