What an 0-2 Start Would Mean for Garrett

There’s a lot of speculation on what the Cowboys will do against the Titans on Sunday, but most lean more on the side of the Cowboys losing. It’s well  documented that Jason Garrett and Co are 0-3 against Ken Whisenhunt, so we have that. What’s your gut feeling the Cowboys will do on Sunday and what would a 0-2 start mean for Jason Garrett? For me, the hot seat will be fully lit, and questions will hound Jerry in regards to what direction the Cowboys are heading. A win will quell these questions until the next bumbling occurs.

The last time the Cowboys started a season 0-2 was in 2010, they finished by going 6-10 for the year. This was Wade Phillips’ last year as the Cowboys Head Coach, he was fired during the season, something Jerry Jones had never done with any other coach previously. Is Garrett on the same path? I think he could be, I really do. He’s been with the Cowboys since 2007, and the offensive struggles and miscues have remained and have not improved – that speaks volumes to me.

If Dallas loses this game and /or loses in stunning fashion, this team could fall apart and crash the rest of the year. It’s the same story with Garrett at the helm. We’re all “hoping” something good will happen, but Championship teams or playoff teams don’t win on hope, they show it on the field and win most of their games, not this 8-8 garbage.

Yes, a 0-2 start for Garrett would definitely sound off ALL the alarms. After the Titans game, the Cowboys next expected win would be against the Rams, but after that it’ll be a tough road the rest of the season. The similarity between 2010 and 2014 could be pretty eerie.

In 2010, the Cowboys won their 3rd game, but then reeled off 5 consecutive losses. 2014 could align itself the same way, so it’s easy to see why Jerry won’t extend a new contract to Garrett prematurely.

After we play the Rams we play: Saints; Texans; @Seahawks; Giants; Redskins; Cardinals; Jaguars and then the BYE week. We do have the advantage of being at home for most of these games, but homefield advantage is not something the Cowboys have legitimately enjoyed in nearly two decades, which is a whole other subject all together.

Romo bounce back game?

We’re all hoping Tony Romo will have a bounce back game because that’s what he has done in the past, so the default presumption by most is that Romo will have a better game, but what if this is the year where Romo just keeps playing bad? A lot of aging quarterbacks have had “that moment” when they have lost it, and never gain it back. Even though this game is so early in the season, it really is a must-win, and that sounds ridiculous, but that’s the kind of team Garrett has fielded since he’s been in Dallas. Every game is a battle, they take the hard road every single season. Who remembers when the Super Bowl winning Cowboys went into every game wondering if we would win or not? It never happened; we had swagger; we had confidence in the head coach, confidence in the quarterback, confidence in a durable running back, and a solid defense. We can’t say that about any aspect of this team right now, and it’s been like that for way too many years.

It’s mind boggling that Garrett and Romo have been together for over seven years and still have issues with calling plays and issues with audibles, and time management – its absurd.

I want the Cowboys to roll into Tennessee and win in convincing fashion and I want them to reel together a string of wins.

If the Cowboys go 0-2, what’s your thoughts on the rest of the season?
