What are we looking for from our Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the last 6 weeks?

If you say Playoffs, you need to apply for a job here, but I must warn you, your over qualified as an optimist even for this site! Truth is the Bucs should shoot for an 8-8 record, and a non losing season which would bring two in a row for the Bucs.

Its not that far fetched when you look at the schedule, the Bucs would need to go 4-2, just like they did at the start of the season. With these games up….

@ Tennessee with a hurt Matt Hasselbeck
VS Carolina wearing the throwbacks and celebrating the 1981 NFC Central division champion Bucs, I see a win there for sure.
@ Jacksonville, taking on Blain Gabbert, The Jags are beatable in anyones book.
DALLAS COWBOYS at home in a sold out Raymond James on national Television, the Bucs play good on the big stage.
@Carolina to take on Cam Newton again.
@Atlanta in a game the Falcons may need to get into the playoffs, or they could be resting starters.

So a 4-2 record is possible, and Raheem Morris is the coach that can take them there. Jon Gruden was 1-7 in his last two Decembers on the Job, and 2-11 in the last 3 years of December games. That is absolutely putrid. Raheem Morris is 4-4 in his last two Decembers, or 5-3 in the last 4 games of the year combined. Tony Dungy was well known for getting the Bucs to play well in December.

We need to see where the Bucs need to draft next year, more than likely, at running back where an explosive one touch/one touchdown player like a Warrick Dunn needs to be found.

Free Agency cannot be ignored next year because the Bucs and Raheem Morris, who is going into a lame duck contract year in 2012, cannot afford to waste time developing another draft class. The defense must be fixed, and NOW. Linebacker, specifically outside, must be addressed. Quincy Black and Geno Hayes are mismatch fodder for offensive coordinators. The Wide Receiving corps needs a veteran to keep the best out of Mike Williams, Arrelious Benn, Preston Parker, Dezmon Briscoe and Sammie Stroughter.

So don’t go anywhere Bucs fans, with Chicago going down, and maybe Detroit self imploading, those wild and crazy optimists may be singing the Playoff tune by the Cowboys game if the Bucs go on a win streak! I’ll settle for an 8-8 season just like 1998, the year prior to the Bucs appearing in the NFC Championship game in Dungy’s 4th season.
