What Do You Want To See? Northwestern

If you’re like me you are still a little salty from the Penn State loss.

But as I wrote in a column earlier this week, don’t fear. Nothing has changed because of the loss and OSU will make the playoffs.

The road to the CFP continues this week against an on-the-rise Northwestern team that has to be salivating knowing there is a perception out there that OSU is beatable.

Just keep in mind, it took an OSU special teams blunder to help Penn State win. We aren’t likely to see that again anytime soon, which is good because we don’t want to see that anytime soon.

But what do we want to see? Here goes …

Scott

A win: This is obvious and will never change.

A convincing win: I don’t want another close win. I want a complete thrashing. I don’t like saying that when it comes to Northwestern because I like Coach Pat Fitzgerald and it is my wife’s alma mater. But OSU needs one of those 60-point outbursts we know it is capable of.

A quick start: Let’s not wait until the end of the first quarter or early second quarter to get things going. I want a good drive and points on OSU’s first possession. Pedal to the metal, as the cliché goes.

Loud and proud: I know it may be tough to get up after a disappointing loss, but I hope everyone in scarlet reminds the rest of the country how tough it is to play in the ‘Shoe. Let’s make some noise.

Shutout: Let’s get back to basics on defense. Get to the ball and keep the Wildcats out of the end zone and their fans quiet.

No false starts: Please? Pretty please?

Keep the pedal to the medal: I know I’ve said it before, but getting conservative after taking control of a game only gets you in trouble. The Buckeyes cannot afford to let Northwestern hang around

Spread the wealth: Again, I know I’ve said it before but one can hope right? I think this team is more dangerous when teams have to guess who’s getting the ball. I’m okay with Mike Weber’s 10-15 touches as well as Curtis Samuel getting his. Aside from that, spread them out and don’t get stagnant.

Silver Bullets be Silver Bullets: Can not blame them for not being themselves last week because they definitely weren’t on the field too much. Cut them loose and let them be the best defense in the country.

Ben

Play well: A solid game of cohesion is all I am really look for. Northwestern is playing much better and shouldn’t be taken lightly even at home. The Buckeyes need to come out with a solid game plan and just win and get better doing it.
