The game on Saturday will be a little more than a scrimmage for the Buckeyes as they prepare for the Big Ten schedule. It is not the most exciting game for fans, but if anything, the low quality of the opponent increases the expectations.
Here are some things that we want to see from the Buckeyes on Saturday.
Jeff
- A 40+ point win- Put them away and do it fast, then let the backups run a typical playbook, not the vanilla run-only playbook.
- No injuries- Put the starters on the bench fast and avoid what happened to Beanie Wells against Youngstown State.
- A shutout- Let’s remember, they may be from theMAC, but they’re also from Michigan. Make them pay for that single word in their school name.
Mali
- Dominance in the running game– There are lots of concerns that the Buckeyes are struggling running the ball; this would be the week to release the hounds of hell, as it were.
- Something Berry Special- I’ve been waiting for Jaamal to be given his chance… This could be the week!
- No Injuries- Although, every week I ask that another DB goes down. Feel free to disregard this.
- No False Starts- So far, my asking has inspired the team. I don’t want to let them down.
- Special Teams Touchdown– Kick return for a score, punt return to the house, blocked punt… heck, maybe Uncle Jim can learn from Mike and we can see a fake field goal.
- Mascot Safety-Can we make sure that “Swoop” actually goes to EMU and isn’t at Hocking?
Eric
- The Game- I’ll most likely be in lab all day, but with any luck ESPN 3 will pull through for me in the end!
- Four passes to Stoneburner- We got 5 last week, but I don’t want to be greedy. Keep throwing to the TE’s, nothing but good has happened so far because of it.
- Continued good passing from Pryor- Opposing teams are stacking the box and stopping the run, hoping to force Pryor into costly mistakes. Unfortunately for them, the strategy is forcing Tressel to be as wide open as he’s ever been. I’m pretty certain we’re okay with that.
- A shutout- Dare I ask for one again? The special teams almost blew it last week, but the second teamers actually did late in the game. What are the chances we can hold off EMU?
Joe
- No Injuries- This one is pretty self explanatory.
- Improvement in the running game- Specifically from the RB’s. I want to see all four backs getting carries, and being able to run through big holes.
- Only positive yardage plays- The offense has too many plays for no gain or negative yardage plays. Cut these out against a lesser team.
Jay
- Focus on the opponent at hand – Prepare for Eastern Michigan, take care of business, find the little things to work on and improve, even if it is a massacre.
- No injuries- Nothing really needs to be said here.
- The Eastern Michigan faithful- I would actually have a lot of respect for an EMU fan who came to the game painted up, cheered like crazy, and stayed to the bitter end.
- The band- Who doesn’t like to see the band?
