What Do You Want To See On Saturday? – Toledo edition

Let’s get right to it – what do we need to do to beat Toledo?  Our experts say…..

Jeff at The BBC

I have only one thing I want to see….

A severe beatdown of the Toledo Rockets – This team needs to win by at least 30 points, and they need to look smooth doing it.  That is all.

MaliBuckeye

The game – Yup, once again hosed by the ESPN west coast feed and a wife who want to go shopping. But does she want to go to Best Buy? Nooo…..

Top Fuel Dragster – As I said in my U$C wrap up, I want to see us hit the gas and not take our foot off until we’ve crossed the finish line. Points, points, points.  Everyone involved, and with Toledo’s “shoot, we can’t stop them so let’s try to outscore them” defense, this should be a no brainer.

Fun with TP – Mr. Pryor, relax. Smile, Have fun, Truck someone, if it helps. Remember why you love this game.

No stupid false start penalties – Yeah, broken record.  Make me stop writing it, O line.

Less than 350 yards total Rocket offense
– They’re averaging over 500, but haven’t played a defensive team like we saw last week. Thad the Impaler, Rolle the Human Missile, and lots and lots of people arriving at the ball with bad intentions.

Jim

I am going to keep it nice and simple this week. These are things that I want to see to reasure me about the direction this team is going in, but not necessarily things that I think the team needs to do to win.
I want to see Terrelle Pryor complete 75% of his passes

I want to see a running back break 100 yards and average over 5 yards per carry

I want to see the defense force two turnovers and not miss any tackles

I want to see the team not let up in the second half and win by at least three TDs

That’s not too much to ask for is it? If the team is able to do all of these things than I think (or at least hope) that listening to sports radio next week will be at least mildly tolerable.

The Buckeyes cannot come out flat!
– This is a trap game in the worst sense: Immediately after a tough home loss, on the road, against a team that very likely believes it can win.  This point includes all facets, including playcalling and LiC.  I know he’s still growing, but a good first step is to come out and show that he’s grown already over the last week.

Keep throwing to the RB’s and TE’s – I’m going to keep asking for it, whether they give it to me or not.  I like that we targeted them several times last week, however the TE’s actually need to catch the passes that are thrown to them.  They cannot waste opportunities, as we all know that Tressel goes with the options that give him consistent results…at least results in the past.

Stop running the Dave play – Might as well chalk this up to a fail now, I guarantee we’ll run it about 6 or 7 times.  Browning is too slow to execute it effectively, and Herron isn’t tough enough to plow through the disaster it causes on the line – that level of toughness is reserved for Beanie Wells only.

Start using Terrelle Pryor correctly –  Lots has been said about the tactics used in the USC game and how poorly Pryor was used.  I couldn’t agree more on two of the points.  First, he absolutely has to fake the bootleg.  It doesn’t require much effort on his part, and forces the defense to account for it.  Second, he MUST look for open receivers at the line.  Missing the slot receivers all game was inexcusable.

Bonus!  Crush the life out of Toledo –  Assuming we manage to not come out flat, we cannot simply sit on a lead and let Toledo believe they can come back and win.  Tressel needs to go against his instincts, step on Toledo’s throat and end it quickly and mercifully.
