Sorry for the lack of updates today, but I was in my basement sheetrocking for seven hours. Yeah, it was as bad as it sounds. Anyway, here is what I missed…
– Despite John Tortorella saying Marc Staal was not going with the team to Europe, the Rangers defenseman was on the ice practicing today. (Ranger Rants)
– Torts will have an update on Staal’s condition in 4-5 days. (Blueshirts United)
– Here’s Torts on Dylan McIlrath (via The Blueshirts Blog)…
“He has some work to do,” Tortorella said. “He’s not ready. I shouldn’t say – well, he isn’t. He’s a young guy, and this gives us more of a chance, in the situation we’re in right now with our D, more of a chance to keep playing, and for us to keep evaluating and keep teaching. The longer these guys are with us, we can keep teaching, also. So we’ll see where it goes.”
– For more from Torts check out his post-practice presser from earlier today (via Blueshirts United)…
– Tomorrow’s lineup at Philadelphia (Rangers Report)…
D: Del Zotto, Girardi, McDonagh, Bickel, Sauer, Erixon.
F: Avery, Dubinsky, Boyle, Weise, Deveaux, Mitchell, Zuccarello, Christensen, Anisimov, Thuresson, Bourque, Wolski.
G: Lundqvist, Biron.
– Brandon Prust, who has not played in an exhibition game yet, will get some action in Europe before the regular season opener in Stockholm. (Blue Notes)
– Finally, Pavel Valentenko says he injured his groin during Friday night’s game but didn’t tell the coaching staff. He also squashed rumors that he would bolt for the KHL by saying how much he loves playing in North America. (Blue Notes)
