You know who would have been great at this Super Bowl? The late Jimmy the Greek. He had to be seen to be believed.
Of course, he committed career suicide in 1988 when he talked about African American athletes to a TV reporter just before a Washington Redskins playoff game. In fact, the question was in regards to Doug Williams who was the quarterback for the Redskins, but the Greek took it a bit farther.
But before that, he was known as the prognosticator on The NFL Today on CBS. He would often pick two different winners, one on CBS TV, then go on CBS Radio and pick a totally different winner. Host Brent Musberger would often try to call him on it, but Greek never owned up to it.
WFAN’s Mike Francesca worked with Jimmy as his ghostwriter for his newspaper columns, then again on CBS and he has a lot of stories about his times with the Greek. Anyway, it would have been funny to hear what he has to say about this Super Bowl and Spygate.
