Interesting pitching matchup for WHYGAVS Night, with the ageless Jamie Moyer going against the winless Ross Ohlendorf. Ohlendorf had two consecutive starts in mid-June where he didn’t walk anyone, but in the two since then he’s fallen back into the “walk more than he’s struck out” rut. I really don’t know any way to describe his season other than to say that I think he’s been pretty terrible so far and so I obviously hope that he can turn himself around tonight.
The Pirates need him to be pretty good tonight, though, because their offense really hasn’t done much of anything lately, even though the team has three wins in four games. Moyer had a very rough start in Boston earlier in June, but he’s been pretty excellent in the three starts since then. It’s usually not a good idea to count on pitchers to do anything but hit their stride against the Pirates.
If you’re looking for blurry, cell-phone pictures of things you’ve seen before, make sure to keep an eye on the WHYGAVS Twitter feed tonight, because I’ll probably update it quite a bit since I’ll actually BE AT THE PARK tonight. If you can’t tell, I’m excited.
