With the rookie camp now finished the Saints saw enough in WR Steve Hull (rookie from Illinois), RB Derrick Strozier (rookie from Tulane), OL Thomas Welch (veteran originally drafted in 7th round by Patriots in 2010) and DE/LB Cheta Ozougwu (veteran originally drafted in 7th round by Texans in 2011) to give them contracts. No such luck for Jacob Hester, Jordan Jefferson and some of the other camp invitees. With those four signings the Saints now have 88 players under contract on their roster after also releasing Micajah Reynolds and Brandon McCray. This does not include Jimmy Graham who is franchised and awaiting a grievance hearing set for June 17-18. In case you missed it, all the drafted rookies have been signed, including Brandin Cooks. The roster maximum going into camp is 90, so even with Graham in limbo and soon to be signed (hopefully) that means one spot is still open. One spot will also open if you count the spot occupied currently by paralyzed former Tulane player Devon Walker who was just signed. Hopefully a veteran center will fill one of those open spots.
