Rocket Science determines current Bucs Ring Of Honor Worthiness

As announced in a press release today, the Buccaneers will announce the third member into the Ring of Honor that now graces the 300 level of Raymond James Stadium tomorrow. The cat is out of the bag however, as Doug Williams has confirmed it is Jimmy Giles, Bucs TE from 1978-1986. So now that the bag is empty, and being that I am a rocket back to the Bucs future“Marty we’re going to Raymond James”scientist, I decided to invent a time machine, glimpse into the future, report back to the present and let you all know which current Buccaneers players and staff have the best chances of reaching the Ring of Honor.

Here is the scale that I will rate some of the players and staff by, as described by some of my favorite Barney Stinson catch phrases:

1: “Good day sir….I said good day sir!” – Your chances are as likely as Barney hanging around a room after dropping that famous Willy Wonka bomb

2: “High-five!” – You get some praise, you have done some good things, but you aren’t quite worth of being inducted into the Ring of Honor and probably won’t be without turning things around

3: “Challenge Accepted” – Your time with the Buccaneers is still young that I can’t predict your career going either way…yet

4: “Legen, wait for it, and I hope you aren’t lactose intolerant because the second half of the word is dairy! Legenday!” – Your Buccaneers legacy is legendary, and you should expect to see your name around the upper deck

5: “Suit up!” – Put on a nice suit with a yellow jacket, because not only will you be inducted into the Buccaneers Ring of Honor, your face will be bronzed in Canton

Here we go….

Ronde Barber – 5 – Ronder, you should “Suit up” as you deserve to be in Canton.  Your touchdown in the 2003 NFC Championship Game alone should get you into the Ring of Honor.

Raheem Morris – 3 – Rah, you got off to a rocky start but rebounded incredibly last year.  A few more good years and a Super Bowl ring or 2, and you can pick out your spot in the upper deck.  Accept this challenge and bring the Lombardi Trophy back to Tampa, please!

Cadillac Williams – 2 – Caddy, you have been an inspiration to watch in your comebacks from knee issues, and that alone deserves many high fives.  However, you don’t stand out as a player who should be permanently honored.  Stick with the Bucs in free agency and add 4-5 more solid years and then we can talk.

Donald Penn – 4 – After seeing what you can do as a full time starter and with a contract signed, I don’t see Professor Penn not working his way into the Ring of Honor.  You and Paul Gruber are the only legendary left tackles in team history.

Barrett Ruud – 1 – Perhaps if I didn’t see the opponents so easily able to get 5-7 yards a carry on first downs, I’d consider this differently.  Good day sir!

Malcolm Glazer/The Glazer Family – 4 – This one may shock readers, but can you all remember what this franchise was like before the Glazers bought the team from Hugh Culverhouse?  That reason alone is enough for this family to be honored and considered legendary.

Mike Williams and Legarrette Blount – 3 – You both have one amazing rookie year down, but need to show you can handle it for a couple of seasons.  You both can go either way.  Would you rather be compared to Keyshawn Johnson and Mike Alstott, or Reidel Anthony and Errict Rhett? (Sorry Gator fans).  Challenge accepted?

The entire secondary (other than Ronde Barber) – 1 – No one in the secondary, other than Ronde Barber, has played a full season or hasn’t been arrested or hasn’t been suspended.  Some of these players may be quality players, but not Ring of Honor material.  Good day sirs!

Josh Freeman – 5 – Very few NFL teams have a quarterback who have the leadership abilities, the arm, the legs, the brain, and the heart.  Every quarterback before you who has had the complete package has made his way to Canton.  Suit up, Josh, you are off to one heck of a start.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out how I was able to predict how and why I was able to make these predictions.
