Many NBA fans are familiar with the newest member of the Boston Celtics, Leandro Barbosa. But for those of you who may not be, here you go:
Leandro Barbosa is a 29 year-old guard who played for the Pacers & Raptors last season. He has career averages of 12 pts, 2 steals & 2 assists per game. He’s an 82% career FT shooter and has played in 75 career playoff games. Barbosa is lightning quick, and can penetrate as well as drill the mid-range jumper. He’s just under 40% from three in his career and was named the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year in 2007. Defense is not his strong suit, but give him some time under Doc’s system, and perhaps that will change. It’s obvious that his athleticism & ability to create instant offense are why Ainge brought him in.
Barbosa has yet to win a ring, and should fit in well with the group of vets that are the C’s nucleus right now. His acquisition also adds more speed to a stable that already includes Avery Bradley, Courtney Lee, Jeff Green & of course Rajon Rondo. Definitely a solid move by Danny Ainge.
