Left- Larry Asante- Nebraska
Bottom- Corey Lynch- Appalachian State
With Cody Grimm likely done at least for several months if not the season, Tampa Bay will need to replace its safety for the third time in 2 years, and with questions about Tanard Jackson getting flicked off like bugs on a shirt, its going to come down to two players;
Larry Asante
Corey Lynch
..and the Bucs win either way, especially in the Passing Game. The problem is Cody Grimm was more valuable as a run stopper, but with the rise of Mason Foster as a physical force, this change could turn out to be a blessing as Grimm was not having the type of season he had last year.
Larry Asante had a nice pick in week 16 action vs New Orleans last year, and like Lynch is very good in pass coverage.
Where the difference is, Asante seems to be more able to bring wood in run support, and it would not surprise me to find Larry Asante as the starting safety for the rest of the year, but for now, this week especially, the competition between the two will be heated right up until game time, and probably through it.
