Why is this 49er Road Trip so important? It could repeat a great moment in Bucs history

Because once upon a time, the Bucs could never win in California, and they went out there and went down early to the San Diego Chargers 14-0 in the 1st quarter. Other Bucs teams would have collapsed, but the new Bucs under first year head coach Tony Dungy came back and beat the Chargers, and historically we look back on that as the game that turned it all around for the Bucs. John Lynch mentioned it to his head coach, saying “you know if we really do turn this thing around next year, were gonna look at this game right here as the one that turned it around for us”. How right Lynch was. Tony Dungy credits it too in his book, and most Bucs and Bucs fans ackowledge that the win over the Oakland Raiders here, then the road win over the Chargers, is the real origin to what would become the Super Bowl champions. It was a huge change of pace for the Bucs, to be able to go to California, and come home with a winl Up until this point Bucs coaches tried all kinds of things; leaving early, leaving late, skipping breakfast, you name it! Today, the Bucs are starting to break new ground with things you don’t usually find true with the Bucs. The Bucs went decades not winning once they went down by 10 points. Since 2008, few teams have won as many times as the Bucs in the 4th Quarter. Tampa Bay’s young team may not realize it, but they have a chance to make history, and erase one of the bad marks plaguing the Bucs for generations; Tampa Bay cannot win in San Francisco. It hasn’t since 1980. NOTE: I made this video at the tail end of my stay with Bucem, which is also why its in FLASH, and thus that is why it is credited towards the site. I felt removing this would ruin the overall flow of the clip. I was working on a top 25 best Bucs games of all time, but this was when I got permission from the Bucs for the Top 25 and decided I would rather start my own site, and the rest is history. Hmmm, maybe a top 25 games of all time could return for the offseason??? Maybe a top 50?

Later today we will look at the historical ‘bad luck’ the franchise has in San Francisco over the years.
