Will The Cowboys Avoid a 0-2 Start?

Week13Donalda

After the Cowboys performance against the New York Giants, there are some suggesting we are looking at a continuance of the 2015 season. Mainly, that being unable to win without Tony Romo and the inability to get the ball deep.

It’s hard to argue against that, but this year we clearly have a better QB at the helm. Dak Prescott looks better than what we had in Matt Cassel, Brandon Weeden, and Kellen Moore.

Prescott has shown some serious poise and he’s been very careful with the ball. What the Cowboys will need to do is open up the offense — what’s scary about that? This was the exact thing people were saying when they got tired of seeing Weeden and Cassel dink and dunk their way to consecutive losses.

Fast forward to this year, and the same holds true, but I think the Cowboys know they cannot make the same mistake and will need to get the ball to their playmakers.

Dez Bryant probably needs to play inside more. I understand he has had some slot plays, but they need to look at what Fitz has been able to do in Arizona and let Dez go to town on the Redskins secondary with a similar strategy.

Everyone knows a 0-2 start would put a serious dent in their playoff hopes; moreover, losing two consecutive games inside the division would be devastating if the most realistic path to the playoffs is to win the division.

Some have dubbed this game the “Panic Bowl”

Neither the Redskins or Cowboys want to start 0-2, and each fan base is well aware of the consequences of such a start to the season. One of these teams is going to be in trouble, and yes panic mode will likely ensue.

After week 2, here’s who the Cowboys face:

Bears
@49ers
Bengals
@Packers
BYE WEEK

That’s a tough schedule. For whatever reason, the Bears have given the Cowboys fits in recent years, and I would expect the same next week. The 49ers surprised the hell out of a lot of people with their performance against the Rams and their highly touted defense. Can you image what they may do against our defense? Cincy is another tough one, and one the road in Lambeau will be as tough as it gets this year.

The Redskins upcoming games:

@Giants
Browns
@Ravens
Eagles
@Lions

The Giants are good, their defense is legit, so they’ll take care of the Redskins, the Browns should be a win, the Ravens on the road will be tough, Eagles will be a good game, can go either way. @Lions is another toss up.

Yes, every game is a must win, but when it comes to what we want to accomplish this year, this game against the Redskins is a true must win.

I want to see the defense get after Kirk Cousins, he doesn’t play well under duress, and Marinelli needs to make the game very uncomfortable for 60mins.
