Wisconsin is one of most valuable teams in college football?

By the numbers the Wisconsin Badgers have come a long, LONG way since the early 1990's and that's highlighted by the fact that they were named to the Forbes College Football's Most Valuable Teams list.

Where did the Badgers rank? A not too shabby 14th to be exact. Forbes estimates that the University of Wisconsin football team is worth $76 million this year, a change of + 13% over this time last year. Part of that has to be the fact that Wisconsin has now won three straight Big Ten championships and because of the hype brought on by the impressive offensive output by Russell Wilson and Montee Ball.

According to the Forbes article the Badgers earned about a $24 million profit in football alone over the past year and they will garner a $24 million payday for the Big Ten with their appearance in the Rose Bowl this year.

The Badgers weren't the only Big Ten team to come up on the list, but they were ranked ahead of a team's who's value may surprise you – Ohio State, who came in 20th with a value of $63 million.

Ranking ahead of the Badgers were Michgan (2nd – $120 million), Nebraska (11th – $82 million), and Penn State (13th – $79 million). Michigan State (19th – $64 million) and the Buckeyes rounded out the Big Ten contingent.

Interestingly enough Wisconsin was ranked above highly recognizable names like Oregon and USC on this list as well.
