I have no real theme this week. I’m just bringing you five random thoughts:
- You may have seen that Bull Durham is going to be made into a musical. I don’t know about this, I feel like Major League lends itself to a musical much better. But then again, there’s now a rap/hip-hop opera on Broadway about Alexander Hamilton that I actually am sort-of interested in seeing, you never know.
- Between Dusty Baker trying to manage in a baseball world drastically different from the one he last saw success in, Bryce Harper being the best player in the NL (if not all of baseball), and Jonathan Papelbon being Jonathan Papelbon, the Nationals will probably be the most interesting team in baseball this year.
- Barry Bonds in a Marlins uniform is weird!
- Yovanni Gallardo is not worth what the Orioles paid him and they better hope he produces if they are going to go anywhere in the AL East.
- MLB has said that there will be no expansion until the stadium issues are resolved in Tampa and Oakland. Well… obviously. If they just give teams to Montreal and uhhh…. uhh…. where would the second team go anyway? Charlotte? San Antonio? Portland? Somewhere else international? Well, my point is that if they just give teams to two more markets then the remove the leverage the Rays and Athletics have in getting the public to build them new digs.
