Wisdom and Links: The Best of the Post-World Series Links

BCS

This week, I don’t really have much wisdom for you, just a compilation of some of the best stories I read in the aftermath of the World Series.

Among my favorites was Michael Powell’s article on Madison Bumgarner’s dad, Kevin. It’s an interesting and fun look at where the World Series MVP came from, and is pretty funny too (such as his dad saying he’s hoping that Madison will give him the truck that he received for being MVP).

Roger Angell’s article on Bumgarner is simply entitled “The Best”.

Tom Verducci also focused on Bumgarner in his post-World Series “Three Strikes” column… can you blame him?

Adam Kilgore’s opening about Game Seven is fantastic.

Meanwhile, Andy McCullough took a look at the agony of defeat.

So did life-long Royals fan Rany Jazayerli.

Over at The Classical, Robert O’Connell focuses on one brief and seemingly unimportant play, and how it actually was quite important.

Jeff Sullivan’s grand article as to whether Alex Gordon would have had a chance at getting to home at the end of Game Seven.

And, finally, I leave the last word to Joe Posnanski, who wrote an article about the series for NBC Sports’ new “Sportsworld” site.

So, there you go, if you haven’t had a chance to read them, you should. Maybe you’ll like them, maybe you won’t.

As always, you can see more of my work over at Baseball Continuum.
