With the 23rd Pick the Vikings Select… Corey Coleman?

It is looking more and more likely that the Minnesota Vikings are going to take a wide receiver in the 2016 NFL Draft. And they have a good selection to go off of this year. And one of the WR the Vikings are looking at is Corey Coleman from Baylor.

For starters he ran, unofficially of course, 4.37 in the 40 yard dash. He was also heavily targeted in Baylor’s high flying offense, which is something the Vikings need.

His speed will get him down the field fast and make him almost untouchable to defenses. He also has great leaping ability and good body control and that will allow him to make big plays once the ball is in his hand.

But there is one problem that could hinder him; he has a tendency to drop the ball. Coleman can get apprehensive about going over the middle. And he never ran a full route tree while at Baylor. One of the biggest problems offensively this season for the Vikings was getting the ball down field to a WR who could keep it secure and make explosive plays.

His transition into the NFL could be rocky but the upside to taking Coleman is that he has 1,363 receiving yards and caught an incredible 20 receiving touchdowns.

Like all rookies Coleman is work in progress. Is he perfect? No. But he is definitely worth keeping an eye on.
