With the 2016 NFL Draft a week away we continue to look at who the Minnesota Vikings will draft at number 23. This week we will look at Ohio State’s OL Taylor Decker. Decker is a beast, at 6’7”, 310 pounds he was named consensus All-American in 2015 and played in 42 of 54 games. In his sophomore and junior seasons, he helped Ohio State break a number of school offensive records, including points scored and passing touchdowns.
The Vikings have notoriously struggled with their offensive line for years. But this year Head Coach Mike Zimmer has made moves to fix the OL problems they have. This offseason they have added free agents Alex Boone and Andre Smith, re-signed Brandon Fusco, Mike Harris, Phil Loadholt and of course brought back good ol Matt Kalil.
It would be a major pick for them if they could get Decker. His height alone is a huge advantage for any offensive line. While picking a wide receiver could help the Vikings, adding Decker to their OL would help protect Teddy, and that is one of the most important things right now.
