The Charlotte Hornets and Washington Wizards were neck-and-neck until the very end in a battle of attrition last night in D.C. as the Wizards got the better of Charlotte in double-overtime, 110-107.
It was a hard-fought game as Al Jefferson and John Wall led their respective teams in scoring with Jefferson notching 31 points on 14 of 24 shooting and Wall finishing with 32 points on 12 of 30 shooting. Mo Williams was also key coming off of the Hornets’ bench, as he finished with a near triple-double at 26 points, nine rebounds, and 10 assists. Gerald Henderson and Kemba Walker struggled when it came to shooting the ball, but were able to contribute in other facets, as Henderson had 11 points on three of eight shooting, but also came away with 14 rebounds. Walker had only nine points on three of 17 shooting, but did chip in 10 assists.
A plethora of players on both sides played well, and since both of these teams have struggled of late, it was a hard-fought battle to turn things around.
Though the Hornets didn’t right the ship on the road, they’ll have another opportunity tonight (Saturday) as they take on the East-leading Atlanta Hawks at the Hive at 7 PM.
