Woj can’t imagine scenario where Ainge trades Brooklyn pick

nba-draft-lottery

make-a-deal We have a little more than 3 days until the NBA trade deadline and all is relatively quiet on the Celtics front.

And by quiet I mean Danny Ainge hasn’t floated any scenarios to the media.  While we await the next big rumor, Woj offered up this to CSNNE:

“The Brooklyn pick has tremendous value,” Wojnarowski told CSNNE. “I can’t imagine a scenario where the Celtics trade that. If they do trade that it’s got to be for a really elite, star-level player. I don’t think that player is out there available for them.

“They don’t want to overreach and give away these assets. They’re looking for that Kevin Garnett-Ray Allen deal that they did to put the previous champion together. Those deals probably aren’t out there for them.”

So that means the Brooklyn picks isn’t going to Atlanta, Houston or Denver. Maybe Blake Griffin qualifies as elite, star level, but I doubt the Clippers want a draft pick in return.

ESPN’s Chris Broussard has some insight (don’t laugh) on Howard’s situation and the Clippers:

… on Dwight Howard: “I’m told he would like to get to Atlanta.”

“I’ve been told that the Clips actually called Denver and offered Blake Griffin and Lance Stephenson for Danilo Gallinari, Kenneth Faried, Will Barton and Nikola Jokic. And Denver turned it down because Blake will be a free agent after next season and they felt like he may leave, plus they like some of those young kids, they love Jokic.”

I still think Horford is the only realistic option for the Celtics and that’s only if the Hawks truly don’t want to pay him $150 million over the next 4-5 years.
