Wolves 100, Kings 120

Wolves record: 3-21

A night after playing some inspired basketball in a loss to the defending NBA champions, the Timberwolves laid an egg in a winnable game against another Western Conference also-ran.

Jason Thompson led five Sacramento players in double figures with 23 points as the Kings hammered Minnesota 120-100 in front of a meager crowd Saturday at Arco Arena.

Al Jefferson had 24 points and 11 rebounds for the Timberwolves, who looked worn out from a 104-92 loss to the Lakers on Friday night in Los Angeles. There were the usual brief passages of inspired play, but mostly it was a symphony of bad passes, poor shot selection and weak defense.
From NBA.com:

Tyreke Evans scored 18 points and Beno Udrih had 16 points and seven assists for the Kings.

Al Jefferson had 26 points and 11 rebounds for Minnesota, which has lost four straight and is 3-21 overall under rookie coach Kurt Rambis. Corey Brewer scored 16 points, Kevin Love had 14 points and 12 rebounds, and Ramon Sessions also scored 14 points.

Gomes twisted his ankle in a second-quarter fall that left him sprawled on the court while play progressed down the floor and back before action stopped.

An X-ray taken at the arena was negative, but he did not return to the game. The team listed his condition as the always-popular “day to day.”
