Put together all the familiar factors — not quite enough offense, a few
too many breakdowns on defense and a couple of those killer stretches
that have defined the Wolves’ season so far — and you have a 90-79
Blazers victory.

Wolves record: 4-27
Mike Trudell/Timberwolves site posted a game blog as well as interviews with the coaches and observations on the players.
After losing all four games on their 2007-closing
West Coast trip, the Wolves hoped their first game at Target Center
since Dec. 21 would be revitalizing. But a season-low 35-percent
shooting performance was impossible to overcome as the Wolves lost
their sixth straight game and 12th in 13 games to continue their free
fall.

Al Jefferson had 29 points and 16 rebounds for the Timberwolves, who
are a league-worst 4-27 and off to the worst start in a franchise
history that has known plenty of losing.

The simple reason for Minnesota’s struggles this season? Jefferson has
become a lone wolf. Poor shooting from the perimeter has allowed
opposing defenses to collapse on Jefferson in the paint, and Wednesday
night was no different as the Timberwolves shot a season-low 35 percent
from the field.

Brandon Roy continues to make Wolves fans weep, this time in person. As
one of the many who "got away" from having to wear a Minnesota uniform,
he will forever bring thoughts of what could have been. Tonight scoring
24 points, grabbing 5 boards and dishing out 3 assists, Roy showed he
can take over a game without shooting the ball well. Roy accomplished
these statistics in seemingly effortless fashion…all while Randy Foye
sat in a suit behind Minnesota’s bench.

From the Associated Press:
Wednesday night’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers was delayed 35 minutes while arena workers repaired two gaps in the floor of Target Center.
Officials initially tried to plug the gaps — one at midcourt and
one about four steps in on the right wing of one side — with tape.
When that didn’t work, they resorted to some quick-drying putty to
do the trick.
