Wolves 93, Lakers 107

Wolves record: 0-4

The Wolves again constructed an early lead — as they have in every
game so far this season — that they couldn’t hold, partly due again to
a free-throw discrepancy. The Lakers attempted 41 free throws, the
Wolves 14.

Minnesota’s Gerald Green, who
was questionable with an infected toe, played almost 10 minutes, scoring five
points. Guard Rashad McCants sat out with a sprained ankle.
Timberwolves coach Randy Wittman said he needed a little spark for his bench unit.
So he took the player who pushes the tempo best,
Sebastian Telfair, out of the starting lineup and put him with the
reserves. Marko Jaric started in Telfair’s place Friday night against
the Los Angeles Lakers, who won 107-93 over Minnesota at Staples Center.
Minnesota’s defense was flat out bad against Los Angeles and, to make
matters worse, Kobe Bryant had a “quiet” 30 points in this game.
