The Minnesota Timberwolves today announced the team has acquired 6-9 forward/center Shelden Williams and 6-2 guard Bobby Brown from the Sacramento Kings in exchange for center Calvin Booth and guard Rashad McCants.
“Shelden Williams and Bobby Brown are both talented young players and we’re excited to get a better look at them,” Timberwolves General Manager Jim Stack said. “We’d like to thank Rashad and Calvin for their professionalism during their time with us and wish them all the best as they move forward with their careers.”

Williams has never averaged more than the 5.5 points and 5.4 rebounds he did his rookie season. This season, he is averaging 10 minutes and 3.7 points a game off the bench and has played in 30 of the Kings’ 55 games.
Brown, 24, is an undrafted rookie and former German league player whom the Kings signed last summer after his impressive play at the Las Vegas Summer League. He has played just three games in February, a combination of a sore knee and his coach’s decision.
The Wolves selected McCants with the 14th pick of the 2005 NBA draft out of North Carolina and he appeared in 191 games, including 36 starts, in his first three seasons, averaging a career-high 14.9 points in 2007-08.
He had appeared in just 34 of 53 games this season, however, and was averaging 9.1 points in 18.7 minutes.
Booth, acquired with Rodney Carney in an offseason trade with Philadelphia, appeared in just one game with the Wolves, grabbing one rebound in 40 scoreless seconds of a Dec. 3 loss at Orlando.
