TWolves Will Find Their Alpha Wolf

By Matthew Hayden at Bleacher Report:

I expect that guy above (Evan Turner) to be in a Timberwolves uniform when the new season starts.

No, seriously, there’s a good chance.

The Minnesota Timberwolves GM David Kahn recently held a “end of the year” press conference that featured some interesting topics of discussion, but the biggest topic that Wolves fans should be happy to hear is that the GM knows that the Wolves need their “go-to scorer”, or “#1 guy”, the “block” to the building block, the core to the nucleus, etc..

– I’m excited, but I just can’t get my hopes up until after the Draft Lottery on May 18th.  We’re DUE for a top 2 pick, but I probably just jinxed us.  Prepared to be drafting 5th.

The NBA’s Worst Defenders

By Henry Abbot at TrueHoop:

Voulgaris recently started a blog called Alone in the Corner, where he uses his database to name the NBA’s worst defenders.

Making the list are:

  • Jonny Flynn
  • Kevin Martin
  • Andres Nocioni
  • Charlie Villanueva
  • Andrea Bargnani

Honorable mentions are: J.J. Barea, Jeff Green, Yi Jianlian, Drew Gooden, Al Jefferson, Will Bynum, Jordan Farmar, Derek Fisher and David West.

– We only had 2 guys out of the 14 mentioned. That’s only 14%.  Not bad at all.

Everyone Hates KG Now?

By Kelly Dwyer at Ball Don’t Lie:

And because Kobe Bryant is too polarizing, fair-weather fans really haven’t forgotton Colorado and Steve Nash a little too … typical, for years, my consistent answer to “who’s your favorite player” has been “Kevin Garnett.”

Say that to a basketball nut, though, and you’re bound to take a little heat. Because for the duration of his three-season stay in Boston, Kevin Garnett has been rightfully regarded as, well, a bit of an ass.

And this isn’t solely due to mainstreaming of his play dates. This isn’t because he’s on national TV more often, because of the Celtics’ status as an elite team. He pulled some of this crap in Minnesota, but not nearly to this extent.

No, this is all on K.G., acting more and more the ass, and forcing people (we only have so much room up there, y’know) to forget what made him so special in the first place.

P.S. KG was suspended for 1 game (tonight), for his role in the fracas in Game 1 vs. the Heat this weekend. Fair?  or not?

LeBron leads Cavs over Bulls; Drops 40 with ease

From the AP:

CLEVELAND(AP) Joakim Noah had to go back for one more look.

Walking slowly across the confetti-littered court, Noah stopped at the spot just outside the arc where LeBron James had pulled up in his face and made a 3-pointer.

”That’s a long way,” Noah said, shaking his head in disbelief as he looked at the distant rim. ”You’ve got to be kidding me.”

The Chicago Bulls kept daring James to shoot jumpers.

He obliged.

”They were telling me I can’t make jump shots,” James said. ”They asked me to shoot a jumper so I did that. Over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.”

Camby to Resign with Portland?

By Marc Stein at ESPN:

The Portland Trail Blazers are closing in on securing a contract extension for Marcus Camby, according to sources with knowledge of the talks.

Sources said Monday that the two sides had already been negotiating toward a new deal that would keep Camby off the free-agent market this summer.

One source said that the looming deal is likely span two years in excess of $20 million.

– Well, there goes the Wolves chances of signing him this off-season.  Oh wait, nevermind.

Cole Aldrich Update

“By” Sid Hartman at the Star Tribune:

Kansas Jayhawks center Cole Aldrich of Bloomington Jefferson has selected Excel Sports Management president Jeff Schwartz to represent him in the upcoming NBA draft. The agency also represents Aldrich’s friend, Kevin Love of the Timberwolves. One mock draft projects Aldrich being selected 11th by New Orleans. That is five spots ahead (No. 16) of the Wolves’ second of three first-round selections. They also have a lottery choice and No. 23.

– Gaaaaahhhhh please don’t draft him TWolves!  Not with our soon to be #5 pick, not by trading up, not at #16… not ever!

Kyle Singler Returning to Duke.

– Whew, we dodged a bullet there.

List of 2010 NBA Draft Early Entries

And lastly, yes today is “that day.”  April 20th.  Regardless of ones lifestyle, morals, thoughts, experiences, opinions, etc etc etc… here’s an interesting article from the Huffington Post about the origins of the significance surrounding the myths of today. I found it on Twitter, which is not surprisingly, very “active” today.
