Randy Foye on the diagnosis of a stress reaction in his left knee cap:
I was trying so hard to fight through it and get back. I didn’t know
what was going on but now that I know it is a relief. They’re showing
me that it is a stress reaction. I took a spill in summer camp that
triggered it. I was working out over the summer and the level of
competition is so high. I was pushing off and jumping more so it really
started to aggravate me and I had to sit out.
Coach Wittman on the news:
This is going to be a setback. You have no control over injuries. This
is a situation where we really don’t know how long it’s going to take.
We recognize where we were at, but we’ll see in the next couple weeks
how our progress is. It’s disappointing but we aren’t the only team
with injuries. We’ve guys that through the exhibition season have had
to do different things, so maybe it’s a blessing in disguise.

It doesn’t appear that the Minnesota Timberwolves also will buy out
center Michael Doleac’s contract (as they did Juwan Howard’s), but if
they do, the Magic would be very interested in bringing back Doleac.

What does this mean for Minnesota? They are clearly going to struggle mightily this season no matter what; the only bright spots being the young guys coming together (Foye, Rashad McCants, Al Jefferson, Gerald Green, Sebastian Telfair, etc.).

Sebastian Telfair will now get his shot to start. If he is able to play at a high level in Foye’s absence, he may very well hold onto the role as starting point guard for Minnesota even after Foye returns.
