Wolves Updates 11-5

We’re here at the Sheraton-Bloomington, where hundreds of well-dressed conservatives have gathered to witness a miracle. Their man, McCain, smells like a corpse, but senatorial candidate Norm Coleman and congressional candidate Michelle Bachmann and Erik Paulson are very much alive. For those present, the elephant is injured, but it ain’t dead yet…
10:27 pm: With McCain’s speech still in progress, back in the ballroom we spot a casually dressed Mark Madsen, a recent Timberwolves acquisition, ambling through the crowd. Mark Madsen is a Republican! Who knew? Answer: anyone who’s ever seen him dance.
Just as practice ended Tuesday, a noticeably upbeat Foye flashed a smile and offered a fist-bump to Telfair.
No offense to veteran Kevin Ollie, who has been a solid backup at point guard through the first three games, but Foye knows that Telfair’s return to the lineup will bring an up-tempo spark.
“He brings different parts to the game,” Foye said. “It’s good to have him back.”
He also said it wasn’t easy watching his team play on TV the past three games, with NBA rules prohibiting him from being in the arena.
“I had to watch them at the house, which wasn’t cool,” he said. “I’ve got to watch it by myself. My wife, she doesn’t want to sit there and watch it with me. I get too attached to the game when I’m not playing.”
Telfair allowed to practice with the Wolves during his suspension and shouldn’t need extra time to get into game shape.
Ryan Gomes and Jason Collins were at a Reading Time Out at a Minneapolis elementary school.

The Timberwolves have lost 10 of their past 11 games against San Antonio, but they will have one thing going for them tonight at Target Center.
Spurs guard Manu Ginobili, who averaged 30.8 points in last season’s four-game sweep, is out of this game and until mid-December because of ankle surgery.
Wolves coach Randy Wittman, asked about the impact of Ginobili’s absence, didn’t try to minimize it.

“He was a dagger in our hearts last year,” Wittman said. “I’m not real upset that he’s not going to be here.”
