Injured center Theo Ratliff met with another specialist on Wednesday about his knee and began a treatment program that the Waco, Texas, doctor hopes will allow him to play again without exploratory arthroscopic surgery. Wolves coach Randy Wittman said he expects the program to last about a week.

Trenton Hassell on the Wolves:
"You’re used to seeing certain faces and they aren’t out there any more," Hassell said Wednesday. "So it’s different."

Wolves guard Greg Buckner returned to Dallas for the
first time since he was traded in the preseason. He isn’t spending much
time worrying about the past, saying, "You’ve just got to make the best
of wherever you’re at."

Jerry Zgoda/On The Wolves on Juwan Howard:

“I’m very thankful,” Howard said of the Wolves and their willingness to
buy out his contract. “I have to give them a lot of respect, a very
first-class organization. They understood my situation and did what was
possible to make me happy. That’s rare in this league for an
organization to do that for a guy who never played a regular-season
game for them.”

Mike Trudell/Timberwolves site talks with TV analyst Jim Petersen on the team’s first road win and the Mavericks game.

Wolves coach Randy Wittman, when asked about the rehabilitation of guard Rashad McCants from microfracture surgery on his right knee: "I wasn’t here his rookie year, so I don’t know what he was coming back from. So it’s hard for me, but I think so. … He’s got that quick first step again, his jumping on his jump shot is back, so I think he is. He can probably answer that better than I can."
