comfortable stepping in to fill that role as much as the coach needed
him and perhaps a similar scenario is taking place now in the
Timberwolves. I ask him who will fill the big Adidas shoes left by
Garnett’s departure, he doesn’t know and doesn’t care. The last thing
Jaric wants, in some ways, is to focus on being a star. He had that
back in Bologna, a city much crazier for basketball then both Los
Angeles and Minnesota. And, his teammates will quickly point out, Jaric
is “already a superstar” for dating a Victoria Secret supermodel.
“Which one of us ends up being the star, it really doesn’t matter. I
really don’t like to talk about myself as a star. If it goes that way,
its good, if not, I don’t care. All I care is that I can help point our
young guys in a good direction and try to get as many victories as
possible. We have good guys on the team that are trying to learn and I
am glad that I can be of some assistance.”

In sum, this team has very few players who can produce wins in the
NBA. And if we are search for “good” performers, our list in 2007-08
includes only Al Jefferson and Marko Jaric.
