Wolves Updates 12/14

Kent Youngblood/Star Tribune on tonight’s game against Seattle:
The game features teams with two of the worst records in basketball.
The difference? The Sonics appear to have found something close to a
groove, having won three of their past five games, most recently a
victory in New York on the back end of a back-to-back. The Wolves,
meanwhile, followed an inspiring victory over Phoenix with back-to-back
losses at Washington and Philadelphia.

Depends on who you talk to. Brewer — who figures to see a lot of
Durant tonight — says it’s Durant’s hesitation jump shot. "He gets you
going back, then he pulls up. And he’s so long and tall you can’t
really get to it," Brewer said. Wittman said Durant is starting to hit
his jumper, which makes defending his forays to the paint more
difficult.

Wolves forward Al Jefferson is averaging 19.9 points
and 11.1 rebounds a game, but despite those number he’s not among the
leaders in the fan voting for the All-Star Game starters. The first
ballot returns were announced Thursday, and Jefferson hasn’t garnered
enough votes to rank among the Western Conference leaders at the
forward position.

The Timberwolves have lost seven of their last eight games by an
average of 12.9 points. Their lone win in that span was a surprising
100-93 victory over Pacific Division-leading Phoenix on Saturday.

Former Wolves coach Dwane Casey is spending his time doing basketball clinics in Japan and all over Asia. He is being paid by the Wolves for this season.

Vikings radio voice Paul Allen, who also serves as the co-host of KFAN’s mid-day show and is the track announcer at Canterbury Park, will do some analysis work on the Timberwolves’ pre- and postgame shows on FSN North beginning next month.
