Wolves Updates 12/17

The bottom line is that Randy Wittman has a record of 15-51 as head
coach of the Timberwolves thus far. That’s close to Jimmy Rodgers
territory–a chilly outpost indeed. The excuse of Foye’s injury will
buy some time. But if the Wolves continue to play at an 11-win pace for
the rest of the season, even as Kevin Garnett angles for a second MVP
Award, the revenue streams for this stumbling franchise will
increasingly run dry. And that, more than anything else, is what makes
heads roll.

The Star Tribune on the Wolves’ future draft picks.

Stephen Litel/Hoopsworld talks to Marko Jaric about his play this season:

I think Coach Wittman has started believing in me and he started using me in the right way. I’m back in my natural position, the one, and can possibly play the two sometimes, but I’m definitely a combo guard. I feel comfortable there and hopefully I’m helping the team and really help the team to get more wins.

Litel also talked to Delonte West on his former teammate, Gerald Green.

"What I mean by that is you’ve got to make it to your advantage coming off the bench and always look at the positives. You get a chance to see what’s going on out on the floor, what your team is lacking, what’s working against your team and the team you’re playing. Now, you have an idea of what you can do to be successful when you go out there and your number is called."

Jerry Zgoda/Star Tribune on Ricky Davis:

"Once K.G. left and Trenton got traded, it was kind of all the
old-school guys had left and there was nobody there with years in the
league who knew how to win games," Davis said. "You’ve got to learn the
game. Hopefully, those guys can learn it sooner rather than later
because that’s a good group of guys. I knew I had to get in the best
situation for me and get a chance to win games. But we’ve got to figure
out what’s going on with us over here as well."

Telfair has led the Wolves in scoring one time this season. He’s led them in assists 11 times. Telfair had 10 assists last Tuesday in Washington and 11 more the next night in Philly. No T-Wolf had had back-to-back double-digit assist games since Sam Cassell in 2004. Gomes, meanwhile, has been dropped from the starting rotation and is playing sparingly, although he should find a home somewhere next season (he’s a free agent). Green, who also will be a free agent, is on the bench, waiting for his number to be called. "He’s going to get a chance," Wittman said of Green. "He’s just gotta stay patient."

Dave DeLand/St Cloud Times writes that the team "picked a lousy year to be lousy."
