Wolves Updates 12/28

Wolves forward Al Jefferson had 10 offensive rebounds Wednesday night during a 105-101 loss at Golden State. That tied for the second-most offensive rebounds in a game in team history. Kevin Garnett and Felton Spencer each had a game with 11. Jefferson began Thursday ranked second in the NBA in average offensive rebounds per game with 4.1.

The Blazers improved team chemistry by trading away
Zach Randolph in a package to New York on draft night last June. They
acquired Frye as the key piece to the deal.

"I think they’ve been patient here," Wittman said.
"I think they took last year and looked at the pieces they had. They
made the decision after last year, OK, we want to go forward with these
guys. … That’s what we’re in the process of doing here. We’ve got to
figure out who we’re going to move forward with. What pieces we’re
going to keep, what pieces you’re going to change and do that."

The Blazers’ winning streak and their 16-12 record offers proof that a
franchise can retool with youth and not get their brains battered
forever. McMillan, though, maintains his team is not far removed from
the Wolves.

"A lot of things have to go right and things are going right for us,"
said McMillan, whose team started the season 5-12. "We were there, just
a month ago. But I don’t think we’re that far off [from the Wolves].
We’re definitely not far from that."
