Wolves Updates 1/7

Love, moving into position in hopes of taking a charge from Corey Maggette with three minutes left in Wednesday’s 107-101 loss to Golden State, banged his left knee into Maggette’s knee, then slumped to the floor in obvious pain. The 21-year-old forward was helped into the locker room as the small Target Center crowd fretted. But he emerged to cheers just a couple of minutes later and finished the game, scoring 23 points with 16 rebounds.

“He’s a tough kid,” coach Kurt Rambis said of Love, who received treatment for a half hour after the game. “He was limping after the ballgame, but we’ll find out what his status is tomorrow.”

From Ray Richardson/Pioneer Press:

Guard Alando Tucker, acquired on Dec. 29 in a trade with Phoenix, was on the Wolves’ active roster for the first time Wednesday night but did not play.

Tucker, a former University of Wisconsin standout, has had three practices to learn the Wolves’ offense and defense. He said he’s still learning.

“I know about seven or eight of the plays on offense,” Tucker said. “I can’t say how anxious I am to play.”
Flynn finished with six points and Curry had 16. That mismatch between rookie point guards was as much the reason as any that the Warriors ended an eight-game road losing streak with a 107-101 victory.

Rambis was generous in his review of Flynn’s play in his pregame media session. Four hours later, the rookie had played 25 ineffective minutes. A reporter’s question about the point guard came in the form of a comment:

“Jonny couldn’t get anything going all night, it seemed.”

NBA TV will air Regal FC Barcelona and Asvel Basket (France) at noon Saturday. Timberwolves draft pick Ricky Rubio is playing for Regal FC Barcelona.
