Guard Rashad McCants missed Thursday’s practice and Wednesday’s game because of the flu and Wittman said Thursday that he didn’t know if McCants would be well enough to play tonight against the Clippers at Target Center.

Foye practiced fully on Thursday and then did his own conditioning workout afterward.

Former Bulls guard Fred Hoiberg has an important job. He’s a scouting
college and European prospects for the Timberwolves, who appear headed
for a top-four pick in the next NBA draft.

Hoiberg, 33, is 2½ years removed from heart surgery that forced him to
retire as a player. He said he’ll need another surgery to replace a
heart valve within the next five years.

"I am enjoying the transition," he said. "It was tough for me. The
hardest thing about walking away from the game was I wasn’t ready for
it to end yet. It happens to everybody. Their careers at some point
come to an end and mine happened at pretty much the height of my career."

The keys to their improved play aren’t complicated: play hard, play defense and play through Al Jefferson on offense.

When they execute that game plan, the results are
remarkable. They’re riding a stretch of four victories in six games
because of it.

As for the NBA players doing time in the D-League, individual
development may be the focus – but winning is part of the assignment.

"That’s all I know," said Richard, who won 112 games and two NCAA
Division I national titles in four years at the University of Florida.
"I’m here. I’m not coming with a bad attitude. I want to win.
Everything is a lot easier and a lot better when you’re winning."
