Sunday night at Target Center, the third game in the Wolves’ “new season,” a much different word could be used to describe the outcome of the rematch. The Wolves were impressive in a 112-91 victory in front of 13,771, putting the Knicks away with a dominant fourth quarter and a front-line trio that could reshape the team’s look over the remaining 33 games of the season.
Al Jefferson, Kevin Love and Ryan Hollins combined for 53 points, 25 rebounds and 58.1 percent shooting (25 of 43) to help the Wolves post their first two-game winning streak since late December. The Wolves defeated New Jersey on Dec. 23 and Washington on Dec. 26.
But the Florida product has improved offensively every month. He averaged 9.0 points on 36.3 shooting in a pair of October games; 12.1 points on 38.3 percent shooting in November; 12.5 points and 46.5 percent in December; and 15.6 points per game on 47.0 percent shooting in January. And three-pointers? Brewer made 27 in January — more than the 23 he had totaled in his career to that point.
Will the improvement continue?
“I think so,” he said. “Shooting is a matter of confidence. … And I’ve got a lot more confidence now.”
