Ratliff, who said he felt “pretty good,” is expected
to play again in games sometime this month, though there’s no exact
timetable.

“You can tell he’s rusty,” Wolves coach Randy
Wittman said. “His legs aren’t where they need to be before he can
really get into contact (drills).”

From Mad Dog’s blog:
I suspect that KG’s strain will get better soon and he will be back as
soon as humanly possible. In my 3 years with Kevin Garnett, I
basically only saw him miss one practice due to health–it was food
poisoning. So you know it’s serious when Kevin sits out. The guy just
never gets hurt and when he is hurt he just plays through it.
Unfortunately this is one injury where rest is absolutely mandatory.

Walker, 31, has been the good soldier since he arrived in a preseason
trade with Miami, but he said Wednesday he’d welcome a trade to a
contender if his role doesn’t increase beyond his uneven
20-minutes-a-game pace.

“We’re not targeting to move anybody,” McHale said. “We’re listening to
everybody and we’ll see what happens. Guys that should play will play,
and guys that play best will play the most. Guys who aren’t playing as
good will have to sit and watch until they play better. That’s how it
usually works.”

Bob Sansevere/Pioneer Press talks to Coach Wittman:
BS When you played in Boston late last month, K.G.
made sure to let Al Jefferson know that he has played in 11 All-Star
Games. And then Jefferson told K.G. they had one thing in common –
neither has won an NBA title. What did you think about Jefferson’s
response?

RW Pretty quick wit.
But if Kevin Garnett makes an
appearance at Target Center on Friday night — even if he isn’t able to
play — the sellout crowd will rise virtually as one and give him the
greatest ovation ever heard for an expatriate Minnesota athlete.

And if Garnett doesn’t make the
trip with the Boston Celtics for the game against the Minnesota
Timberwolves … well, the ovation will merely be delayed until next
season.

From Sid Hartman:
In the past five games, the Timberwolves’ Al Jefferson is averaging 28.8 points, 15.6 rebounds and is shooting 54.7 percent from the field and 87.5 percent from the free-throw line.
As part of the Timberwolves Fastbreak Foundation’s Black History Month presented by American Family Insurance, the Wolves celebrated black history and leadership at Brooklyn Center’s Northport Elementary.
