Telfair said he hopes he will miss no more than three or four games. Coach Randy Wittman gave a rough estimate of seven to 10 days for recovery, though it could be longer.
“It’s going to be pretty slow,” Wittman said. “Even if (the exam) comes back that there’s nothing wrong, it’s a pretty significant ankle injury. He’s not going to be up here all of a sudden practicing.”
That means Randy Foye will continue to start at point guard while Telfair is out.
Wittman has noticed marked improvement from Telfair, who had a scorer’s mentality in high school and his first few years in the NBA. Wittman has tried hard to get him to change that approach, and it seemed to be paying off over the last month.
“He’s made great progress,” Wittman said. “Sebastian’s done a nice job. From his turnover-to-assist ratio, over the last month, you can’t ask for it to be any better. He’s understanding the offense. He’s understanding where the ball needs to go. He’s not searching for shots, looking to score.”
Al Jefferson did not practice on Monday because of a sore ankle, but he is expected to play Tuesday night at Target Center against Portland…

Wittman likes it because the role aims McCants toward what he does best — score points in bunches — and emphasizes his offensive talents, softens his defensive liabilities and makes him the focus of the team’s offense when Al Jefferson goes to the bench.
McCants shrugs and arches his eyebrows when asked about his new role, and suggests he can do more when he starts a game rather than fill a specific role as a reserve.

The Miami Heat—Minnesota’s greatest competition for the number one pick in the draft statistically—shut down team star Dwayne Wade for the remainder of the season today. It reeks of tanking, but again, proving it is impossible since Wade does indeed have a number of injuries Miami needs to address. It’s just unfortunate for Minnesota this decision will more than likely cost the Wolves the opportunity to draft Michael Beasley from Kansas State who is, in my opinion, the player expected to enter the draft who would most help the Timberwolves immediately.
