It’s almost over. Six games remain: Three at home, three on the road, including a quick two-game West Coast trip that is preceded by Chauncey Billups’ visit tonight.

Last night, I went to Timberwolves.com as usual to check up on things. Right away I saw that they had created a website for Kevin Love to help him win the Rookie of the Year award. I was very pleased to see that the Timberwolves had created a site for Kevin because he certainly does deserve attention in the rookie race. However, when I looked at the promotion it looked oddly familiar. Then it hit me; hey, I made this 3 months ago! The comic appeared on the front page of my site for about 2 weeks and currently sits in my weekly comic section.
Wolves PR: “Our 3-person PR staff was developing [the Love glass cleaner comm.] months ago … we were just alerted to the [fan’s site].”
Since the death of his longtime business partner two years ago, he said he has had an increasingly difficult time finding takers for two of his four season tickets.
Because of that, Burt said he told the Timberwolves he might be renewing just two tickets this year and was informed that he would lose his lifetime discount as a Year 1 season-ticket holder if he did so.
“That’s huge,” he said, “because the discount (38.8 percent last year) is what kind of keeps me in there. My four tickets cost me around $12,000 or $13,000. I can afford it; it’s a company ticket. I’m just real tired of managing these other two tickets.”
Sorry, lottery-odd watchers. Wolves win, Jazz lose, which means it looks the Wolves probably won’t get Utah’s first round pick this summer (good thing) and they’ll probably end up aimed at the sixth pick in this summer’s draft with their own.
OK, so the Wolves have won at EnergySolutions Arena before. They just haven’t done so since December 2005, which means it’s all new for these Timberwolves.
Rodney Carney called the victory, which ended a nine-game losing streak dating to Feb. 18 at Miami, “very satisfying…because I’ve never won here” after he matched his career high with 25 points, including five three pointers.
Williams had the ball in his hands on Utah’s final possession. The Jazz got their last chance to avoid Friday’s embarrassing result with 2.3 seconds remaining in the game. Williams caught the inbounds pass, made a couple of moves, and then missed a wild 18-foot jump shot as time expired.
Williams argued with the officials that he was fouled on the play. When asked after the game if he was fouled by guard Kevin Ollie on the shot or by forward Mike Miller from the side, Williams said “both.”

Timberwolves coach Kevin McHale disagreed with Williams’ argument that he was fouled.
“Kevin Ollie just played good, solid defense,” McHale said. “He (Williams) got a look at it and it didn’t go in.”

Rodney Carney, now with the Minnesota Timberwolves, sounded somewhat surprised.
“I thought Cal was going to stay, but I guess money talks,” Carney said. “I was hoping he wouldn’t leave Memphis. He’s been successful there and at UMass. But Kentucky, that’s a different setting. He can recruit. He can bring great players — the best in the nation — in there. We’ll see what he can do.”
