Al Jefferson missed the final 32 games of this season because of a torn knee ligament, but he was the only Timberwolves player to receive any votes for the all-NBA team.
With just eight points, Jefferson finished well behind the Phoenix Suns’ Shaquille O’Neal (68) for third-team center.

Former Friar and current Minnesota Timberwolves star Ryan Gomes returned to the Providence College campus on Tuesday, May 12. Gomes, who had not been to the campus in several years, visited Friar head coach Keno Davis and toured the renovated athletic facilities. He also spent time catching up with old friends, including strength coach Kenny White, women’s basketball head coach Phil Seymore and senior Randall Hanke.

“A recurring theme for me is for the sake of the future of Providence basketball, we have to improve in a lot of ways, and not just on the floor,” he said. “The great news is, people are very positive. I met with Ryan Gomes [of the Minnesota Timberwolves] Tuesday and Dickey Simpkins [a former Chicago Bull] last week, and they both want to be involved. Providence alumni and fans are proud of their school and we want them to be a part of our future.”
