Wolves Updates 8/24

With rookie Kevin Love and the acquisition of Mike Miller, the Minnesota Timberwolves “should make a big jump in the win column this season,” says Kevin McHale, the team’s vice president of basketball operations.

The T-Wolves were 22-60 in 2007-08.

“Our young guys were really starting to play well
at the end of last season,” McHale says. “I felt like even if we’d
added nothing from last season, we would have been above .500 this
season. Now, with the additions of Kevin Love and Mike Miller, we have
a chance to really make some noise this season.”

5. Mike Miller: Underappreciated for years in Memphis, Miller now has a chance to showcase his game in Minnesota. The Timberwolves are not a major market team but the tandem of Miller-Al Jefferson-Kevin Love will be one to watch.

Crean planned the event, which also includes a golf outing on Monday,
after meeting with local billionaire Bill Cook, who financed the
restoration of the French Lick Resort. Crean has spoken openly of his
desire to heal wounds left by the firing of Bob Knight and the hiring
of Kelvin Sampson, which many former players opposed.

Every former Indiana player, coach and manager was invited to French
Lick, and over 300 people had said they would come as of Friday,
including Ted Kitchell, one of the most vehement critics of Sampson,
and NBA coaches Mike Woodson and Randy Wittman.
