“The Barcelona offer has to be approved by the club,” says Villacampa. “It’s true that they have offered more money than Real Madrid, but we want them to pay the I.V.A. tax (600,000 euros, around $862,000 dollars) next season, not later.”
Villacampa went on to say that one reason why the team hasn’t accepted Barcelona’s offer is because there is “another important offer from the Minnesota Timberwolves.”
“This is a big year for me, for the team,” he said earlier this week after a workout at the IMG Training Center in Bradenton. “This (transition) has been tough. I went from a team that didn’t know how to lose — we took losing real hard — to a team where we just lose and you get used to it. Things have got to change.”
He met with Timberwolves executive David Kahn in Las Vegas. The discussion was about making Bzdelik a top assistant coach to be the nuts and bolts inside, while whomever Kahn selected to be the head coach would be the face of the team. But the head-coaching search dragged for weeks and into August before Kahn selected Lakers assistant Kurt Rambis for the gig.
Bzdelik didn’t wait for Kahn or Rambis or anyone else from the Timberwolves organization to make a play, if they were going to do so after the hire was official.

Al Jefferson. Kevin Love. Jonny Flynn. That’s a start. But new coach Kurt Rambis might wish he had never left Phil Jackson’s right hand when considering the holes on his current roster. Of course, the Wolves could have addressed their needs better had they not drafted two point guards with their top two picks. Especially since one of them is still holding the Wolves hostage in Spain. But that’s a whole other issue.
